MA’AKUM Development Foundation has disbursed the second tranche of multipurpose cash assistance to 259 beneficiary households in Mawza’a District, west of Taiz Governorate, as part of an integrated intervention providing cash assistance, shelter, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) support to internally displaced persons (IDPs) and the most vulnerable communities in the district. The intervention is funded by the Yemen Humanitarian Fund (YHF).

Yasser Al-Ashari, Executive Director of MA’AKUM Development Foundation, stated that the second tranche was disbursed through an exceptional mechanism, in response to the deteriorating security situation in the targeted areas of Mawza’a District, which resulted in the displacement of all beneficiaries to different locations across Mawza’a District and Al-Mokha.

Following coordination with the donor, the assistance was transferred directly to beneficiaries through the unified financial network, without requiring the usual formal procedures, ensuring that affected families could access the assistance despite their displacement and the prevailing security constraints.

The project will continue for six months, reflecting MA’AKUM’s commitment to delivering sustainable humanitarian interventions that strengthen protection and improve the living conditions of affected and vulnerable households, in partnership with the Yemen Humanitarian Fund, local authorities, and relevant stakeholders.
