Preliminary data as of the evening of 3 September 2026 indicate that approximately 1,176 households have been displaced following the recent escalation. Displacement is ongoing, and the figures remain subject to verification and updates. Affected districts include Mawza, Maqbanah, Jabal Habashi, Al-Ma’afer, Ash-Shamayatayn and Dhubab, in addition to earlier displacement movements in Al-Mokha, Al-Khokha and Hays.
In Mawza District alone, approximately 284 households were reportedly displaced from several displacement sites and unsafe areas. MAAKUM Development Foundation is closely monitoring these developments through its field presence and ongoing integrated humanitarian project in the district.
MAAKUM calls on donors and humanitarian partners to take urgent action to support newly displaced families, facilitate the voluntary, safe and dignified relocation of families living in unsafe sites to suitable alternative locations, and provide essential shelter, NFIs, WASH and protection assistance.
