MA’AKUM Development Foundation officially launched today the distribution of Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance (MPCA) to 259 beneficiaries in Mawza District, Taiz Governorate, as part of the Integrated Cash Assistance, Shelter, and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Project for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and other vulnerable groups.
The project is funded by the Yemen Humanitarian Fund (YHF).
The launch ceremony was attended by Mr. Yasser Al-Ashari, Executive Director of MA’AKUM Development Foundation; Mr. Abdulkarim Haidar, Director General of Mawza District; Mr. Saleh Al-Rawdi, Head of the Executive Unit for IDP Camp Management in Mawza District; Eng. Zaid Al-Amri, Project Manager; along with representatives of the relevant authorities and partner entities.
During the event, Mr. Abdulkarim Haidar emphasized that this humanitarian intervention represents vital support for internally displaced families and other vulnerable groups, helping to ease the growing economic hardships they face. He commended the effective partnership between MA’AKUM Development Foundation and the Yemen Humanitarian Fund, as well as the efforts made to ensure that assistance reaches eligible beneficiaries in accordance with the principles of humanity, impartiality, and transparency.
For his part, Mr. Yasser Al-Ashari stated that the project responds to the increasing humanitarian needs in Mawza District and aims to strengthen the capacity of targeted households to meet their basic needs through integrated interventions, including multi-purpose cash assistance, shelter support, and WASH services. These interventions contribute to improving living conditions and enhancing the resilience of internally displaced persons and other vulnerable communities.
Mr. Al-Ashari added that the cash assistance distribution will continue for six months as part of the Foundation’s commitment to delivering sustainable humanitarian interventions that enhance protection and promote dignified living conditions for affected communities, in partnership with the Yemen Humanitarian Fund, local authorities, and relevant stakeholders.
