MAAKUM| Media 1st September 2024 Under the slogan With knowledge , we build the future Under the generous sponsorship of Al-Kurimi Developmental Foundation and implemented by Ma’akum Developmental Foundation (MA’AKUM), in coordination with Taiz University, the Governor of Taiz, Mr. Nabil Shamsan, inaugurated the “Infrastructure and Educational Improvement Project” at Taiz University, specifically the rehabilitation and furnishing of the May 22nd Hall, which had remained out of service for nine years due to extensive war-related damage. The inauguration was attended by the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Ayman Al-Makhlafi, a number of directors of governmental offices, the leadership of Taiz University, along with its academic, administrative, and student bodies. Governor Shamsan praised the efforts to restore the May 22nd Hall under such exceptional circumstances, making it once again suitable for hosting conferences and major events after years of complete destruction. He noted that this restoration marks a significant step in reviving the university’s infrastructure and its academic facilities. The Governor extended his sincere thanks to Al-Kurimi Developmental Foundation for funding this project and for its continued support of various educational and health initiatives in Taiz. He also commended Ma’akum Developmental Foundation for its vital role and ongoing cooperation with the local authorities in implementing numerous sustainable development projects across the governorate. Mr. Yasser Futini, CEO of Ma’akum Developmental Foundation, stated that the project involved complete structural renovation, full furnishing of the hall, installation of air conditioning systems, interior decoration, and the setup of a control room equipped with sound systems, cameras, lighting, and seating. |
For his part, Dr. Riyadh Al-Oqab, Vice President of Taiz University, emphasized that the May 22nd Hall is now the university’s first fully equipped, high-standard facility capable of hosting academic conferences — a long-standing institutional need. He noted that the hall will soon host its first major event: the Cardiology and Nephrology Conference, scheduled for September 3–5, with the participation of distinguished Arab doctors. Dr. Al-Oqab expressed his deep gratitude to Al-Kurimi Developmental Foundation for turning this dream into reality and restoring the hall better than ever before.
